Hybrid Switchgrass
Jacksoneers,
In my eternal quest to convince y’all of the benefits of breeding I’ve uploaded two pics of our hybrid switchgrass growing at Bloomington, IL. These plants are derived from a cross in the greenhouse between upland and lowland switchgrass. They aren’t quite as tall as the Miscanthus growing nearby, but much taller than either of the ‘pure’ upland or lowland varieties that are growing one plot over and slightly taller than the corn. Nick is a normal sized human for scale.
Impressive right?
