The conference goal is to build relationships among individuals and organizations working to increase acreage of continuous living cover (i.e., perennial crops and cover crops) in the U.S. Midwest. The event is divided into three sections:
- Monday afternoon will be hosted by regional working groups affiliated with GLBW, each addressing strategies for continuous living cover: 1) perennial forage, 2) perennial biomass, 3) agroforestry, and 4) cover crops.
- Tuesday morning we will explore how local partnerships in watershed sites are helping farmers and businesses to implement strategies for continuous living cover. Six watersheds / sites from across Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota will provide conference participants with a variety of lenses to view current practices, and discuss opportunities to expand acreage of continuous living cover and strengthen businesses supporting perennial crops and cover crops.
- Tuesday afternoon the GLBW partners and other conference participants will discuss the opportunities and priorities for GLBW to support organizations promoting and and helping to implement continuous living cover in the region.
